Book Review: The Last Black Unicorn

The Last Black Unicorn by Tiffany Haddish has been on my TBR since it came out last year. Tiffany Haddish is one of my favorite comedians. I have gleaned bits and pieces of her life from her standup, but none of it prepared me for what she reveals in the book. Some of her past is so heartbreaking and yet she manages to see the humor in every situation. Not the good in every situation, because sometimes things are just not good no matter how you look at them, but the humor, and that is the key to how she has thrived.

As sad as it was, parts of this book were equally so funny that I found myself laughing about them hours, even days after reading certain chapters. This is definitely not a book you’ll be able to read in public because you will be laughing too hard.

I’m happy to report that this was the first book I read 100% in e-book format! I spent about 70% of my reading time on a standard computer and 30% on a tablet. As you know, I’m typically not a fan of e-reading so this was a new experience for me. But it turns out it wasn’t too bad after all (surprise!) and since the time of reading this book (which was September) I have read several more books in e-format. Both for the sheer ease of it, and also because they are free if you check them out through your local public library! But you already knew that, right? 😉
