What We’ve Been Up To

February is disappearing right before our eyes! It seems like just yesterday we were caught in the never-ending-January-time warp, and now suddenly it’s Pisces Season and my birthday is on the horizon. But let’s not get too ahead of ourselves, shall we?

Last year I did a roundup of my favorites each month. This post is similar to that, although I can’t guarantee there will be one every month. Some months are just busier than the rest, and have more interesting things to report 🙂

Without further ado, here’s what we’ve been up to this month:

What I’m Reading

 

In addition to two big scary textbooks on the discipline or organizing and research methods (for school) I have also been reading The Black Belt Librarian by Warren Graham, Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty (review coming soon!) and PhoDOGgraphy: How to Get Great Pictures of Your Dog by Kim Levin (because priorities, people!)

Next up on my reading list: Still Me by Jojo Moyes, and Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng. Both have had stellar reviews and I am excited to read them! I’m also going to try to sneak in My Not So Perfect Life by Sophie Kinsella as my book for the last week of February – her books are such a treat to read and I am always impressed by her writing.

Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is one of those winter holidays I only get semi-excited for, and I suspect I’m not alone in that. For most people it seemed to kind of fall flat this year, especially considering recent events and tragedies. Please stay informed, and register to vote so we can make changes in November.

This year I made some cute Chinese takeout-style valentines for my coworkers:

The “fortunes” inside each paper fortune cookie were little valentine notes, and some little chocolates were thrown in as well. They turned out adorable – all thanks to this tutorial on Evermine which I found on Pinterest. I highly recommend this if you’re looking for a craft idea for Valentine’s Day!

Where We Went

This month we went to Disneyland to celebrate our five (!) year anniversary. Here are some snapshots of the trip:

We ate at La Brea Bakery in Downtown Disney (one of my favorites) tried the Dole Whip for the first time (it was fab) and I got all rose gold everything: ears and matching shirt (proof is on my Instagram). The weather was perfect, and it happened to fall on Super Bowl weekend so lots of festivities were going on around us!

What We’re Eating

This month we went to Hash Kitchen for brunch twice.

They have music on the weekends, cute mimosas, and amazing food.

If you’re able to go, request a table outside – it’s the perfect time of year and their outdoor seating area is lovely.

What I’m Looking Forward To

Other than the weekend 🙂 right now I’m looking forward to the upcoming Tucson Festival of Books. On March 10-11, this festival will be taking place on my school campus (University of Arizona) and tons of amazing authors will be presenting. I am beyond excited for this, and will likely have a special post (s) dedicated to it.
