2017 has gotten off to a good start! Here are some things I’ve been loving this month:
I was a loyal Apple Music/Pandora user until recently when I decided to switch over to Spotify and holy cow was I missing out! I love being able to create playlists of just one artists, not a bunch of similar sounding artists, and I love that it is free. The 1975 and John Mayer’s The Search for Everything have been my most-listened to this month.
Here to Make Friends
The Bachelor is back on! Which means my favorite podcast is, too. Here to Make Friends is a Bachelor recap podcast that I discovered last year. New episodes are posted the day after Bachelor episodes air, and Emma Gray and Claire Fallon from Huffington Post are so hilarious. Plus, they regularly have former Bachelor/Bachelorette people on as guests which can get interesting to say the least. No shame in admitting that this show has been the highlight of my week lately.
Women’s March on Washington
The Women’s March took place on January 21st and watching it on TV and online via live feeds was one of the most breathtaking, inspiring sights I have ever seen. Seriously, the aerial photos of marches around the world were giving me chills. In Washington D.C. so many great, influential women spoke and joined the protests. This snippet of Madonna’s speech really stuck with me:
“Welcome to the revolution of love. To the rebellion. To our refusal as women to accept this new age of tyranny. where not just women are in danger but all marginalized people. where people uniquely different might be considered a crime. it took us this darkness to wake the fuck up…I choose love. Are you with me? Say this with me: We choose love.”
After weeks of being down in the dumps, this was so moving and motivating.
Honey Vanilla Chamomile Tea
I literally talk all day at my job as it is a key aspect of what I do. Lately with the cold weather I have been getting sore throats and that raspy feeling that comes with winter and the air being so dry and chilly. This honey vanilla chamomile tea has been saving me from suffering! I’ve been drinking it hot almost every night and it works wonders to soothe my throat.
You’ll Grow Out of It
Jessi Klein’s book You’ll Grow Out of It has had me laughing out loud this month. I’ve been taking it with me to read at work and it’s such a funny and entertaining read. I’d highly recommend it if you’re looking for something fun to read. Review is coming soon!
IKEA Clothes Storage Boxes
We are moving this weekend! In the chaos of organizing my clothes and household items, we’ve taken several trips to the IKEA out here in Tempe which is where I discovered these little storage boxes. They are surprisingly durable and even though they don’t show it online, I got a great set of teal colored boxes in the store. They have been a lifesaver as our new place has lots of storage space.
